Post Not Ford related but hope you can answer.

Hello. My dad has an 98 Acura CL and I want to give him some HIDs. Here's the thing; his headlights have two separate bulbs controlling two types of beams: one pair of bulbs for the low beam and one pair of bulbs for the high beams. Here is my question to you: can I be able to install an HID kit for his low beam section and keep his Halogen section intact so that when I switch from low beam to high, it will be HID low, and then Halogen high. Will that work? If so, I'm buying the kit today. Thank you in advance for the help.

yes it will work like that, my brother in law did that until he bought the second set on his alero, when driving on the highway and switching to low though it can get dangerous as some hids need a warm up period, and it will be dark until the warm up is complete

I see. Yeah, I'm going to actually try this out first. I have an extra set of ballast and bulbs from the Ranger that I will hook up to the car and see if both the low beam HID and high beam Halogen will come on and off with no problems. If a problem occurs, i will hit it up on here or probably buy two kits just to be safe. But with the two kits, I wouldn't like to have HIDs in the high beam section because it would take so long to warm up and by the time it warms up, a on coming vehicle comes my way so it's back down to low beam lol. So yeah, thanks for that though ^_^

Update! I was working on the truck and my dad's car and took out his low beam bulbs and placed them with my H10 fog light bulbs that I had lying around with an extra set of ballast with them (HID) and found out that they work! The high beam turns on and off and the low beam HID stays on on both beams. I like it! So thanks for the advice and info on this and hopefully I can get a picture up on it. Thanks again!
