if your car didnt come factory with HID projector headlights it is illeagal regardless of the car because the light output is uncontrolled and scattered. it should be a fix it ticket, if not, bust! haha

I doubt you'll get it thrown out because of spelling.
Somewhere on that ticket, possibly next to where you noticed a misspelling, should be a statute reference. With that number, you can research the exact statute.

There is no law in any state I've ever heard of for having HID's and if you got the box and can show them the box, and it says "For Off Road Use Only" or something on it, then the ticket will stick, if it don't say nothing like that then they can't say squat about it.

in case the copper meant to ticket you because you didn't have projectors, i'd contest the ticket with pictures and specs printed of the first hid-equipped escalades, there were a few mercedes that also used hids with regular headlight housings.
but that's what i'd do, i'm not suggesting you'd do the same

It said something to this effect: "Any vehicles not equipped with HID (High Intensity Discharge) Lights from the factory cannot be upgraded with said lights"
^not exact words but something like that
The reason why I looked it up was because I got pulled over for my grille guard... thats right, my grille guard. the cop stated that the little drinking straw sized tubes that protect my headlights are in fact illegal because they "obstruct the view of my headlights." Which I then looked it up and found nothing about my problem but I did find about the HID lights and another one that if you have roof mounted or above roof mounted off road lights, they need to be covered or turned backwards while driving on road.

Your reference is for factory equipment. | | | |
