I have a 2010 Ranger that I had a Cap installed over the bed, I purchased the option that allows me to unlock the cap with my OEM remote.

However the dealer installing the cap could not locate the necessary wiring to hook up the new lock actuator. In speaking to the manufacture of the Cap, they mentioned that the wiring should be locate in the driver side kick plant. However they could not locate it.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the lock system. Or have an any idea on where I can hook into?

I had a similar hookup for my tailgate lock. I don't know if your '10 is the same as my '09, but on mine, it was behind the passenger side kick panel:





Unfortunately I don't have the wire colors or connector info handy (and they were wrong in the instructions that I had), but could get them later if need be.

Thanks for the photos, if the wire colors are easily available it would be great to have those. Also what would you recommend connecting the ground wire to?

Sorry for the delay - I'll dig out those wire colors when I get home this afternoon, if you still need them.

There were two power lock wires I tapped into - I had no other ground connection to make.

OK, the colors are Grey-Violet and White-Violet. With the pins on the connector I tapped into numbered as such:

4 8 12 16
3 7 11 15
2 6 10 14
1 5 09 13

they are connected to 3 and 14 respectively.

Your connector pin numbers are correct for the passenger side power lock solenoid but the colors are actually gray/violet and white/violet. That connector also contains a violet/gray wire but it is not the one to tap for the power lock solenoid.

Violet/gray = violet w/gray stripe
Gray/violet = gray w/violet stripe
