Default turn signal problem

i have a 2001 ranger i had a few wire that got warm n shorted out i replaced the mfs n the blinker relay n the mfs harness due to the wiring being shorted out but now the signals work but when i push on the brakes the signals stop workin i think it may be the brake switch or possibly a ground but not sure.. any ideas?

I never saw a response to the post below, I have the same thing going on.
Turn signals and brake lites work fine independently, but when I step on the brakes the turn signals quit. Hazards stay on when the brake pedal is pushed. Took out the fuse to the brake position switch, turned the power back on, replaced the fuse and turn signals work fine when the brake pedal is pushed for a couple of minutes then the same thing happens. Any ideas? Bad brake position switch?

Could be...however, it could also be that the alternator isn't putting out enough power. My '92 was doing the same thing, and when I bypassed the switch to test the grounds, they acted normally. So, what I would do is bypass the switch with a jumper wire, and see if they work normally. If they do, it could be the switch.

Second thing, take a DVOM (Digital volt/Ohm meter) and test the alternator output with the truck idling. It should be between 13 and 15 volts. If it's right around 13 V, I'd say to replace the alternator, as you can replace the switch, and still have problems because the source of the power for the switch is simply not putting out enough power to power the turn signals.
