Default which sensor is bad?

my 89 ranger 2.9 is having trouble staying running, when i start it up,i have to keep my foot on the gas and above an average 2000 RPM's until it warms up or else it will die.it puffs some black smoke and has a coughy shaky idle.I've already replaced 2 of the sensors, the tps, and the iac.

while searching this forum, i found a couple posts mentioning replacing the iac, maybe my replacement was bad? i got it from a junkyard, so its a possibility....

before it was parked, it burned waaaaay more gas than normal, it had new plugs, cap rotor, coil, all that is good. did i just end up with a bad sensor? time to try again, lol?

New one might not actually be that much

I had an '86 Bronco II that had nightmares like you describe. One of several issues I found restoring it to driveability was a plugged catalytic converter. When I took it apart the honeycomb catayst inside fell out of it in LOTS of little pieces.

I had the same problems on a 90 bii w/2.9. I replaced everything you have including the fuel pressure regulator, coil, etc no avail. It ended up being a worn out O2 sensor. Replaced it and it ran great.
