Default The ultimate Ranger PCB LED Exterior Lighting project

I started today building PCB boards for my headlights, as I've been gathering supplies in the last few weeks.

I've spent over 450$ in lumileds in Red, Amber and Yellow. I've also bought multiple tail lights, headlights, and corners.

I started by opening up my headlights with the oven trick. 215 degrees worked for me. I first took some measurements and drew up what I think would be a good PCB circuit for the frontward facing amber turnsignals and running lights. This was previously a challenge to do in LED for a ranger due to the fact there are no quality solutions for plug-n-play bulbs up front.

Here is the design I have so far. I have it set with 56 superflux. My plan so far is to run the outer ring as my running lights with a voltage regulated 12V from a sharp-regulator. I will use the remaining interior LEDs for the turn signal circuit. I bought PWMs so I could make the LEDs dim, but I don't know if I want to do that. I ask for you opinions. This thread will progress as my project evolves.

It fits so perfect. I smiled so wide when I first put this cardstock inside of the lamp and imagined how the PCB would glow at night.

Superflux are actually way better than L1224R, Since I'm taking apart my tails to use white Superflux in the reverse lights it would be silly to not do them in the running/brake/turn signals too. I bought 290 of the true red superflux (630 nanometers) not the typical "red orange" (618 nanometer) that all the oems use.

"This revolutionary package design for the automotive industry, allows lighting designers to reduce the number of LEDs required and provide a more uniform and unique illuminated appearance than with other LED solutions. This is possible through the efficient optical package design and high-current capabilities."

Hmm... Or I can use a billion of them and make blindingly awesome lamps... heh (evil grin)

No stock 06+ tails.

I bought aftermarket ones. I separated the lens from the body. I'll be painting the chrome bezel inside to match the body of the truck. I will be making walls of superflux similar to this inside of those.

Projectors were going to go into my foglights, why do you want them? I modified the cutoff and its way better than your stock headlight beam. I took photos of stock vs these.
