To answer the op Ford or any auto manufacturer has to put some limit on the amount of specific stock that it has line side.

Chassis looms come in big containers. So you can't have a specific one for each trim level because the containers all have to be accessible to the operator that installs them. Can't have the operator walk past four 6 foot long containers, so a more advanced trim level loom is used even for lower trim levels.

The other option is to make specific looms but them ship them to a sequencing center so that all parts can be sequenced in a special container with rotation labels so that all those parts can be picked from the same shipping container according to build sequence.

Can't do that for say trim components since they will vary not only according to trim level but will also be specific to the color of the car.
But then body trim components do not take as long as a loom to manufacture, so the extra step of sequencing doesn't pose as much of a potential stock shortage.

I had a 2003 Crown Vic, it was an old Hiway Partol car.. base model basically.. behind the trim on the dash it had the plugs for the adjustable pedal switch.. I was swapping from the old plastic gray looking dash to some wood grain I got at a junk yard.. and plugged the plug that was hanging there into the new trim I got and the lights on the switch lit up at night.

So there might be something to the harness being all the same.

My 95 has a set of wires behind the lighter labeled "Time Travel". To damn scared to connect them together! Who knows what may happen!

See, your vehicle was offered with the flux capacitor option then.

Don't laugh at the guy. My 2001 Edge came with an UBER RARE factory installed pulse jet built into the tailpipe. It was a factory option. It adds over 9000lbs of thrust to the truck!

Tailgaters gonna hate..

What about ford putting boxes in the back for 6x8 speakers, but not putting speakers.

i had a 2000 ranger 4 cyl that didn't have the wiring or speakers for the rear either. I also had to wire in the harness for fog lights out of a 98 explorer to work with the 2006 ford ranger lights it actually wasn't that difficult, just time consuming to figure out what wire to cut on the factory harness. Because my truck was only wired for fog lights in the dashboard. but enough ranting i gotta go cook steaks

i doubt the wiring for the doors are there but you can always just look under the dash on the kick panel. Most people just add the wires into the harness but personally i would just go for the gusto and grab the entire harness from door to door and all the electrical

When I started this thread I thought manufacturers computerized the assembly process to optimize speed and cost...so that each vehicle got only what it needed. Apparently not and it sounds like no one outside the factory actually knows how many and what options are available AND making harnesses for all possibilities isn't a cost burden.

Then again, perhaps they allow for changes from the time the car starts assembly until it leaves the factory. This way if they are out of something then can omit it and if they have extra somethings (like superchargers) they can easily add them. Wonder if BMW has harnesses for every possible option in base models.

My 03 XL is pre-wired for a dome light w/ separate map lights, and the 3rd brake light w/ bed lights... so I added both .
