Post CB radio engine noise interference

Whenever I use my CB and have the engine running the radio picks up so much static I can't even hear someone even if they are driving right next to me. When the truck is off or only running on accessories there is no problem. (If I put a window up or down it makes a noise on the radio)

I think it's just because my radio is old and cheap but who knows.

I am wired Direct to the battery.

The radio is an old one I found in or cabin from radioshack I'm guessing its about 7-15 years old.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be? Thanks ahead of time.

the power and ground wire should not be near each other and the power should not be by a speaker wire..I don't think that matters for you

ok my ground is just on the negative of the battery now. Would it be better to bring it straight to a frame rail right out of the cab?
