I’ve been driving my truck a lot more lately and has been driving great up until the other day when I went to start my ranger after driving it no more than 5 minutes AGO, and EVERYTHING was dead, no click or anything completely DEAD when I went to turn the key. I was able to jumpstart it and it ran the rest of the day so I thought maybe it was that ONE time but the next day during deliveries it did the same thing. I jumped it and it turned on again. There are things that I noticed.
When I have my headlights on, they flicker, a feverish flicker.
They flicker more when I have my turn signal on.
When I lock the door with the button on the door, my dome lights dim slightly. Same with my headlights, when I press the button to put my window up or down, my headlights flicker as well.
Another thing is the ABS turns on randomly and same with my THEFT light on the dash stays on randomly when the truck is being driven.
ANOTHER thing is the turn signal sounds almost like an old clock, it’s hard to explain but it slows down and speeds up randomly.
I just want to know what to check, My battery is no more than a year old same with my alternator, I replaced them both at the same time. I checked anyway and my battery is good at 12.4 volts and I used my alternator check machine and said it’s good. I went down to check my starter and it was covered in old oil, it’s never been replaced so I said screw it and replaced it since I have the money. After replacing it, the truck ran great, no flickering for a couple days and now today it’s back to flickering. Im wondering if disconnecting the battery when I replaced the starter might’ve given it a restart or something, not sure. Let me know thanks
