Default Dash lights slowly going out on 2003

A curious electrical problem on my very-low (46K) mileage 2003. The dash lights have started going out, beginning a year ago, starting from the far left and migrating right. It has progressed across the tach and is starting to nibble on the speedo lights.

But on one occasion a few months ago, the lights all came back on - but only for a minute.

Before I go in and start replacing individual bulbs, is there some systemic problem I should be looking at? Other than that, my Ranger has zero problems.

Sounds like one of the grounds is a little meh. Weird that its only getting some of the lights as all the lights are in parallel on the back of that cluster.

I own an old British roadster and it never occurred to me to try what works when Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, causes problems. Pound on it! Hey, it worked! Sort of. All of the speedo and tach lights came back on, plus part of the gas gauge on the far left, but both gauges on the far right went OUT.

I guess my next step is to, Lucas-style, track down the ground connections and tighten them up.

Thanks again!

I imagine it might be a loose connection at the cluster itself then.
