Default Horn will not stop blowing after replacing cruise control buttons

I replaced my cruise control buttons on my 2003 Ranger and the horn will not stop blowing. Ive checked all the connections and everything seems to be hooked up fine. When i put the original buttons back in the horn does not blow continuously and functions normally. Can someone please help me out? This issue is driving me crazy!

If your horn honks when hooking up the battery, it's possible that your tightened down air bag mounting bolt is touching a piece of the ribbon cable, creating a short that honks the horn. Give that a look and let us know what you find!

Thanks,
-David

Thank you so much for replying! Unfortunately its honking without the airbag installed. I'm chasing down wires looking for a short right now but every wire seems to be fine.

Sounds like you got a bad set of Cruise Control Buttons. Are they used? New? Correct for your year Ranger?
Try another pair or at least one of your new ones and one of your old ones. That will tell you which of your new ones is the bad one..

The cruise control buttons are brand new but from Ebay so I have a feeling that you're right about the buttons being bad. They should be correct for the year and trim of my truck but I will confirm with the seller again. If I connect my old buttons even on the new ribbon cables the horn does not continuously blow and is fully functional. Thank you for the reply. I will try to return the buttons and get new ones.
