No brake lights.
2004 Ford Ranger 2.3L Single Cab....WITH A CAP ON BACK.
No brake tail lights.
No 3rd brake light.
No voltage going to 3rd light wire running under bed to cap on back of truck.
All bulbs good.
All fuses test good.
New brake pedal switch.
Multi-function Switch is good.
All running lights, turn signals, flashers, etc work fine. Giggling turn signal lever shows nothing out of the ordinary.
There was a broken wire where cap was wired in to left tail light but that doesn't affect the brake lights on the truck or the lack of voltage to the 3rd tail light.
Took out drivers seat and going to check further into brake pedal switch currents and wires running in and out of it. It is almost impossible to work under dash without removing seat. I also have a clutch in the way. The seat belt bolt is a Torx T50 on my truck. Yours may be different and possibly a Torx T55 or a 17mm hex bolt.
*No power was coming into the brake switch from the fuse box.* It is a 20 Amp fuse and labeled High Mount Brake Light and is in #19 position in my owners manual fuse table graphic. The Lt. Green and Red wire on the harness is always hot and feeds the brake pedal switch from the fuse box. When you push on the brake the switches inside connect to each other and that connects the Lt. Green / Red wire with the Lt. Green wire. The Lt. Green wire goes to the High Mount Brake Light. With this knowledge I knew it had to be the fuse. I wrapped a strip of aluminum foil around just 1 leg of the fuse which was loose and that sent power to the brake pedal switch. I will fix it permanently soon. Problem solved for now but will keep testing for a while and see.
