Re: No pulse to the coil
After much help privately from two members on this forum to help me diagnose the problem, we decided since there was nothing coming from the coil and no signal from the PCM to the coil...that the PCM was bad. I replaced the PCM, and it started right up but was running terrible and sent out many codes. After idling for a while, we reset the parameters and scanned it again to get two codes for the coil. We suspect the coil went bad and burned up the PCM. When I took the coil out, there were visible cracks. We reset the parameters, I replaced the coil, and it's running perfectly!!! MANY, MANY thanks to the two men who were kind enough to take the time to help me (a complete stranger) test everything possible to make sure I was taking the best actions to get my truck back on the road! I have to say, it's a 2004 and this is the first major problem I have had with the truck, so I'm still very happy with my Ranger.
