Default Many Many Questions 1995 Ford Ranger

Okay, so I have a bunch of questions relating to various electrical issues on my 1995 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 2WD. Without further wait, here they come.

When my Parking Brake is set, the light does not stay on indicating that its set. It comes on when I put it on, if I shut off the truck, then start it back up it either doesn't come on, or does, or comes on for a brief period (like a light check).

My speed control (cruise control) light doesn't come on at all

My master window control will not roll down my passenger window, I have determined already its not the master switch, its not the passenger motor. It has to either be the passenger switch (which does control the passenger window, but my understanding is that the master switch passenger wires go to the passenger switch, which goes to the motor), so it could be the passenger switch, or the wires between the master switch and passenger switch, fuses are also good.

My key-less entry remote system only works when I am about 10 feet away from the vehicle, maybe 15 when I am lucky.

I also want to know every instrument panel light a 1995 Ford Ranger 2WD Automatic is suppose to have, (on key in run position, before starting), and all lights in general so I can see if I have other lights out? Am I suppose to have a check gas cap light?

I have also never seen check gauge when my fuel was super low (red line)

I can't find a list of all the lights on my Ranger and its currently late at night and the truck is in the garage so I don't want to go get my manual or anything.

I just recently got the same truck myself. Long bed version though.

I’m a noobie that recently joined the forums for some help so I’m not familiar with many of the issues but I think a lot of it has to do with how these rangers are classic ole reliable little point a to point b trucks.

I have the same issue with seatbelt and parking break. There’s only a light that comes on right after I start the truck and is there for about a minute after that no lights,

Accidentally drove with the parking break on for a couple miles when I first got it.

Hope someone else comes around that can be of better help!

When it comes to lights In the dash, the only way to check is to pull apart your dash and physically check for any burnt out bulbs. The truck is 24 years old, that’s a long time for all bulbs from the 90’s to be working 100%. I had the same problem with my dash lights when my alternator fried all my electrical.

Same goes for the keyless entry, this system was designed over 20 years ago so you can’t really compare distance to new cars.

I have a 2001 ranger and had the same problem with parking break and seat belt. The parking break has a switch down by the break pedal . It has one wire going to it. Remove the wire (unplug it) take off the switch (one screw) Spray the switch with a cleaner, I used the old reliable WD-40, operate the switch a couple of times to clean the contact and reinstall. problem cleared. As for the seat belt problem, I was getting a driver seat belt code. Slide seat forward unplug the seat belt wire and clean its contact. works great, no more code alert. Hope this helps.

true, it's often just dirty/corroded contacts on the harness connectors. Could also be a few grounds that have bad contact. Hope you get lucky and find them quick!
