Question New bulbs/flasher, still have blinker issue

Hello all-

I need some help. The other day, my left blinkers were flashing too quickly. I did some reading here, and decided to replace all flasher bulbs and the flasher relay.

That didn't fix the whole issue. Now I have the left flasher indicator in the dash panel staying on whenever my lights are on....ugh.

So here's what I observe: My new, front left flasher bulb is very faint/dim. It doesn't stay illuminated when my headlights are on, unlike the right "good" side (they should stay illuminated, and then "blink" by flashing brighter).

I checked for loose wire plugs on top of the steering wheel under the cover but don't see any issues. The other day I was using the steering wheel tilt feature, which COULD have cause this according to the forum.

Please help!

Thanks-
Phil

It might not hurt to check your ground connection on the battery, and also search/find all other ground connections on the truck, remove/clean/re-install them. Electrical gremlins like this are often fixed by assuring your grounds have good connection to the body/chassis. Even though they look like they are tight and well grounded, corrosion often exists underneath the mechanical connection point, blocking a good solid ground connection.

Thanks bird-

I’m going to do some research on where the ranger ground points are. Any pointers as to which may be affected first? The battery for starters looks good.

Phil

Sometimes the bulbs are bad out of the package. I’ve had it happen a couple of times; scrambled to check all the wiring, fuses and relays to find out that it was a bad bulb. So my suggestion, switch the bulbs around and see if the indicator stays on the opposite side

sometimes the sockets go bad too. but i came here to say i've had problems with both the multifunction switch itself and also the main connector in the steering column from all the tilting pulling on the wires. unfortunately, i don't have a solid answer either, but i'm hoping you find it quick!
