Mixing door actuator in my 1998 ranger will not move in cold direction while in any position other than off. So to get the mixing door to move to cold position, I have to turn temperature knob all the way to hot, set climate knob to off, then turn temp knob all the way to cold and wait until I hear it stop, then turn climate back to whatever setting I want to use. The mixing door actuator will travel in the hot direction just fine, no matter the climate knob position.

I have replaced the actuator and the climate control cluster, I turned the die back and forth while replacing the actuator, it seemed fine.

So, it was the blend door broken at the actuator joint, I guess it had enough contact to move the door without the force of the blower fan on it.
