Default Climate control stuck on hot

Hello everyone!

I've got 46K on my '08. I really don't run my AC often so the temperature knob on the cimate control doesn't get moved much. Recently I tried to turn lower the heater temperature because it was too hot. Nothing happened. I've been browsing the net and it appears it could be a few different things. What would be the most likely culprit? I don't hear clicking noises as some have heard. The knob just appears dead. Thanks in advance!

Very common issue on that era, its usually the "blend door motor". I replaced the one on my 09 twice. Its behind the glovebox door, somewhat hard to get at, takes some crafty hand work but not impossible or difficult, i think its 3 torx bolts. Blend door motor is electronic and controls the door between the heat and AC side, all the vent modes are controlled by vacuum lines. So if it is stuck not going between heat and AC its 99% the blend door motor.

Verify the comressor is coming on though, put it in AC mode and then pop the hood and make sure the AC compressor clutch has switched on and is spinning. Compressor issue is way less likely though but always good to check before throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the reply! I'd seen a video that outlines opening the OEM blend door motor and removing the old pasty lubricants and reapply fresh lubricants. Would I be better off cleaning up the OEM Ford part or gamble with an aftermarket Dorman part?

Worst case scenario is you break it more and you still need a replacement lol.

Like I said I replaced mine twice, once under warranty with an oem part, second time with a dorman unit. The dorman has been in for 5 years now.

If you cant "fix" the current motor I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with the dorman unit. It's only 35 bucks and mine seems to be holding up ok.
