I hope someone can help, I have a 1999 4.0 2wd with 80k. I was driving and all of a sudden the truck died, I restarted it and got a few blocks and then it died again. this happened a few more times until I wouldn't start and I had to push it home. now I'm home and trying to diagnose the problem. The battery is less than a year old, could it be the alternator? fuel pump? when I turn the key to run I can hear the fuel pump prime. please help a fella out. Thanks in advance!!

Being that the truck died, and started up again, then died yet again, I’d say check your alternator

If the battery and starter will crank the engine then it's not your alternator not charging. Check for spark at the sparkplugs while cranking the engine if that's ok then check fuel pressure with a pressure gauge.It's likely lack of spark or fuel causing no start.

New to forum. I have a 2001 auto 3.0. died while driving. will not turn over or start. also obd2 reader will not connect. HELP please

if it won't turn over it's not getting power to the starter or the solenoid. figure out why it's not getting power. If it still doesn't start thinking air, fuel, spark, and timing. But it sounds like an alternator to me.
