PCM relay not getting power to pin 86 in underhood junction box
My Ranger 1999 2.5L 2WD in trouble again. Died out on me, no fuel pump hum, checked relays and seemed ok. Removed the bed, checked the pump and it was dead. I replaced the pump and checked it . Ignition on but no priming and no spark. Checked fuses/ok, replaced PCM relay and still no priming and no spark. Checked inertia switch/ok. At the PCM relay socket at the junction box checked constant power to where pin 30 goes and it's ok, checked ground where pin 85 goes, and it's grounded, checked where pin 87 should go and seems ok but the slot where pin 86 goes is dead, no power in there even with the ignition in ON position. So I put a wire from the 12V battery into the 86 pin slot in the junction box, put the PCM relay back and it fired right up, but engine won't turn off until I remove the wire to pin 86. That seemed ok,but next to the PCM relay there's the electronic engine control diode and it heats up if the engine is running through the means I just described. It heats up to the point of melting the hard plastic ,so I figure there's something not right. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and what could be wrong? Please help
