Default heater control valve wire issue

I own a 1999 ford ranger with the 2.5l engine. I just did a flush on the heater core because I wasn't getting heat. as I was pulling the heater control valve out of the 2 hoses it broke and I had to replace it. the new valve went in easy and I have some heat at the moment. miles better then just cold air. I noticed an electrical line that attaches to the bottom of the valve was cut. does anyone know what this line is called. can it be spliced back together or do I have to replace it. from what I've researched so far it opens and closes the valve. need some help.
