Just for shits and giggles.. try to start it.. make sure it clicks.. then reach underneath and tap on it with a small hammer.. DONT beat on it like it owes you money.. just tap it good a couple times. See if it starts. If it does, same scenario.. Replace the whole thing in 11-20 mins or spend a few more replacing just the solenoid itself and reinstall it.
EDIT: make sure if you bigbox store it (autism zone/Oreally's) you take your starter in there, compare the cones, the part that goes into the trans. If you're an Auto, likley they cant screw it up. If it's a Manual the nose cone is different, dont leave your old one there, make sure they get you the same nose cone... The Auto starter isnt the same, it will engage and stay engaged IF you get it to line up at all. Depending on reman I've had both situations arise.
