Default 2003 3.0L Cruise Not Working

This is a used truck I have acquired - the cruise control does not engage - no speed control light. I have checked all fuses and they are good. I have conducted the initial Key-On test and all of the switches report good. The flashing lights then indicate an issue with the brake switch. I have checked continuity at the master cylinder switch and it is closed. I have replaced the cab brake switch - it and the brake lights work. Following discussion in another thread, I checked for voltage at the connector at the brake reservoir switch - neither wire shops voltage and with the switch jumpered I do not get cruise operation, nor indication on the dash.

Other than the two brake switches or the fuses, where else does power possibly get interrupted. It is an automatic, so there isn't a clutch switch. I'm at a loss as to where to look next. Any suggestions welcome.

i vaguely remember that if the 3rd brake light is out, then CC might not work. same for clutch pedal switch, if you're manual.
might check to see if the clockspring or the buttons themselves are at fault.

The main brake lights come on - didn't think to look at the 3rd light.

When I run the diagnostic test - OFF button pressed and turn on the key, the buttons light the Speed Control light as they are supposed to. The coded flashes at the end indicate the issue is the break switch - but both check out OK by the meter. As I understand it, there is supposed to be 12V at the wiring across the brake master cylinder switch - this is where I have no voltage.

Is there some other "safety" that interrupts the cruise control operation?

possible the clutch switch. i believe it will interrupt CC just like the brake switch will when pedal is pressed

It's an automatic transmission. I have looked for a stub for a clutch switch, assuming there would be a common wiring harness, but I didn't find anything tucked away that would serve to connect to such a switch. Anyone here who can tell me where the clutch switch might be hidden? I understand that they just installed a jumper for the automatics.

I finally tracked this down! I took a complete list of the fuses - with a description of what they were - and walked through the box, checking any and all that had any possible application/impact on the cruise control. Turns out the DPO had installed the 2 amp fuse that should have been in position 6 in an open slot BELOW that number. I simply blew past the erroneous installation as there was a good 2 amp fuse installed - and there is only one called for in the entire fuse block. Put into the proper location, and Voila! - working cruise control.

Still don't know how I managed to miss that so many times!
