Default Disconnect door wiring

I'm about to replace hinge pins on my 1999, and I'm working out how to access them. One possibility is to remove the door completely, is there a wiring connector at one end or the other of the wire bundle inside the rubber boot between the door and cab? All I should have in there is speaker wires, so I guess I could probably feed them back though to disconnect the door if i had to.

If I can't remove the door, I will try to come up with a way to support it while working on the hinges but still keeping it connected at the rubber boot. Maybe I can loosen one hinge at a time.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Jim

If it were me, A buddy for 10 mins should be the equivalent for 1.5 cans of beer or a tall boy to help in holding the door.

Looking at my 94 I just took the door off of the cab to lighten it for removal. You should be able to take a short handled 44oz hammer with a 1/8th or 3/16th drift and tap the top pin out first, replacing it - then the lower pin, then replacing it.

then enjoy a beer of your own..

However, should you be like the rest of us at times and want to be difficult. Pull door panel, remove speaker, disconnect it, there may be another wire or two, if so you'll need to trace them and disconnect them as well. Use a radiator pick tool or small standard screwdriver to lift up the rubber boot lip and pull to remove by pulling wires through. Let hang in the door jamb..

Same friend would apply. I'd suggest a pair of soft wood or 2x4 spread about 14-20 in apart facing a wall. Remove the bolts from the hinge on the door side. Place door on wood blocks and lean it against the wall safely. Do what you have to do to the hinges.

Install is opposite of removal.

Keep in mind some minor alignment may be required before TQ the door hinge bolts fully.

Thanks, maybe I'm thinking it's tougher than it really is. The pins are swaged like rivets, they will need the heads removed or to be cut to be removed. I'm going to take a crack on it next weekend.
