Why does my fog lamp switch light up when lights are off?
Using a custom made harness from another Ranger owner on another Ranger forum and it actually works well. It's for my 98 2.5 XLT that didn't originally come with fog lights. The harness uses the factory relay, factory switch, and factory lights. I can't figure out how to get the factory switch ON/OFF LED to work properly. I got it to work backwards when I tied into the relay wire coming from the switch. It would light up when the lights were off and would not light up when the lights were on. I tried to tie into the 12V/Ignition wire but then the LED stayed on anytime the key switch was on/running no matter whether the lights were on or off. On this custom harness it uses the factory Ford switch and it has a yellow 12V wire, Orange illumination wire, Blue relay wire, and black ground wire. In the cab the switch goes to a fuse then goes out to the engine compartment to another fuse, then to a relay, and down to the bulbs. I tied into the wire going down to the light bulbs and up to the relay wire on the switch and that's when it worked backwards. Anyone have an idea of where I would need to splice in a wire for the LED to light correctly?
