Tachometer lag
I got an aftermarket tach installed (equus brand) on 87 ranger bc that year doesn’t have a factory one. It works okay, but it lags e.g; when it should be reading 2,500 rpms it’s barley at 2,000 and when I press the clutch in to shift gears it still goes up to 2,500 while clutch Is already engaged and then takes a second to go back down once I shift gears. Could a bad ground be the cause of this? I noticed that the installers connected the ground wire to the the metal under the dash , right under my steering wheel, and not on chassis ground.
