Default Cruise Control: OEM or Aftermarket?

I am kind of confused on this one and I was hoping someone could shed a little light on this. I just bought a 2002 XLT, 2.3l automatic without cruise control and I would like to add it. It has A/C, but crank windows so it does not have the power group. Coming from the clock spring there is only 3 wires leading to the brown connector on the steering column. This is where it gets confusing, from that brown connector there is 6 wires leading I think to the fuse block. There is also the pressure switch on the master cylinder and it even has the updated fire harness on that switch. What I do not have is the 10 pin connector hanging on the inside of the fender by the blower motor. My question is, will it be a major undertaking to get that wiring from a salvage vehicle and link it in, or should I just give up and wimp out and go with a Rostra kit?

I would do some more digging for the 10 pin harness. If there is a brake deactivation switch wired into the engine bay harness then there should be a 10 pin plug.

That is why I am confused. This is what it looks like. That connector should be hanging on the fender by that ground wire next to the blower motor.

What the heck? That connector should be right next to that ground. Look like anything cut off?

I thought maybe someone put a different master cylinder on, but why would the update even be on the brake switch. I looked and cant find where anything is cut anywhere. I had 2000 with crank windows and it had cruise, so it does not necessarily have to have a power group to have cruise. I will look closer again tomorrow .

OK, so I have looked all over and this wiring connector just is not there. I have conceded that I will go with the Rostra unit to save me a lot of wiring headaches. Has anyone been successful with making the Ford OEM steering wheel controls work with a Rostra unit? I realize that I would have to put in the correct clock spring. But if it is possible, I would rather have the steering wheel controls. If not I will resort to the stem on the steering wheel housing switch.
