Default Brake lights

So I got out of my car late last night and noticed my 3rd brake light on my ford was still on even though the vehicle is turned off and the key is out of the ignition. Not the red part but the two white parts on the left and right side of the brake light. So i got back in the truck and made sure the truck was completely off. And I made sure the headlights were off too.
Next thing i did was I tried stepping on the brake pedal to see if it would turn it off if i depressed the pedal. It stayed on, but when I stepped on the brake pedal, all 3 brake lights turned on as if my truck was on. Once again, when I depressed the pedal, the white lights on my 3rd brake light stayed on. Is all of this supposed to happen?

Those are the cargo lights. They turn on by turning the dash light brightness up full (past the detent). Did you indavertently do that?

I forgot to reply to you but thank you very much! I messed with the brightness earlier that day and it was exactly what you said. Thank you!
