Default cruise control complete mystery

I have been trying to make my cruise control work since I bought it-- 3 months ago--- I have replaced the steering wheel buttons, clock spring, control unit under hood, all fuses (1) and all relays test good. the master cyl switch test good, all brake lights work, and now I've taken it to a repair shop, and he said there is no power to the clock spring.( I figured that when I tried to do the CC self test, cruise light only flashed once , then nada) ok, what are we missing? any experiences like this? or just buy a broomstick for the gas pedal!

welcome to the forum!!!
could it be that the clutch or brake pedal position sensors are sending a signal when they shouldn't? that would kill the CC as soon as it is commanded on... just a thought!

I just got back from the shadetree "mechanics" shop who robbed me of 200.00 and he "found" the under dash relay panel!! while he was poking around under there, he caused the interior lights to stay on.---fixed that then the key in ign chime started working again, but no c.c. it will intermittently go into its self diagnosis mode (sometimes not), but when it does, always gives 2 flashes, brake or clutch switch (no clutch, it is an auto) any suggestions???

----------

forgot to mention-- the steering wheel lights never come on either. and the key warning chime does not work again

to answer your very helpful suggestions. replaced the brake switch, (no clutch position sensor-auto) and took the column covers off-- no disconnected wires, pins, etc..should I get a broomstick and call it ? I called my only "local" dealer(60 miles away) he refused to take it in because they only go back 10 years-- no mfg supported part capability.

----------

another point--- I don't want to pay our local "bubba" to sleep in my truck and do nothing to find the answer!!!

is there any chance that the ABS light behind the cluster is burned out? if you have an ABS problem, that could be it

well- I took my lil red ranger to the local dealer( king Lear of the GOLD fame) they put it on thier million dollar scope and it said the SERVO is bad! ( been replaced with a used one off ebay) it still gives 2 flashes in self-diagnosis (brake switch) --also been replaced(new) so I got on the interweb and bought ANOTHER servo. this will be the only thousand buck cruise control in the country. This started out to be a really good deal, but by the time I get done, I could have bought a RAPTOR.

IF there isn't a clutch then there is a clutch jumper. Most rangers have the pigtail in the wire harness for a clutch. But in an automatic they add a jumper plug, if you are missing this plug then it won't work.

Look for a rectangular connector (I think it is light brown) hanging by itself under the dash around where a clutch pedal would be.
