Default Programming Keys Using FORScan. Help!

I need help.

I am using FORScan to program my keys. I am able to program the first key with no issues. For some reason, i'm unable to program the second key. Both keys can be programmed, as I have managed to program them both as the primary key.

I'm probably just doing something wrong. Anyone have experience with programming keys using FORScan that can help me out?

Maybe too slow on getting the second key in the ignition? Maybe a timeout if not done fast enough

Let me just make sure I'm doing it right.

I program the first key, then I leave the master key inserted and follow the same steps, when the instructions come up I turn key to off, remove key, insert second key, turn to run and click okay?

I have been getting this message:

"PATS reported about success, but counter of programmed keys has not been increased yet.

Please try to turn off/on ignition and re-enter to the PATS menu and check the counter .

If the counter has been increased, it means the procedure was successful"

Sounds right. Is there a counter menu? Does it say 2 programmed?

Oh here is what someone said on the ranger station. Try the wait 10 secs:

"4) Once you're in, follow the menu to erase all existing keys, then when prompted program each of your PATS keys to the system. Basically, you'll take the current key out, wait 10 seconds, then insert a key to the Run position and count to three, and do the same with any remaining keys. Once you're done programming keys, press OK and you can close out Forscan."

No, it remains at one... The battery is a little low, you don't think that would cause an issue do you?

Could be. Got a charger to hook up to it while you are trying to program?

If that doesn't work take your log files and send them to the forscan guys. They can tell you what's going on.

Go to the forscan site and select contact us and follow the instructions.

I do have a charger. That's what I will do.

You were helping me with my PATS issue. This is a new transceiver, and I'm hoping that it's the fix. I'm hopeful due to the fact that I can program at least one key and my theft light has stopped blinking rapidly.

Yeah the fact you can get one key working makes me think you got it.

Hey guys, I was running into something similar with my truck. Turned out that I wasn't programming STRATTEC brand keys. Some of the knock-off key brands (eBay sellers) just won't work. So if low battery isn't the issue, bear in mind the brand of the key.

@Anthony: Hey buddy, sent you a PM a few weeks ago, never heard back from you. When you get some time, check THIS out!

I was thinking that but because the OP can program any of the 2 keys first, I'm thinking something is going on with the sequence of events or maybe a glitch in forscan.

I posted on his PATS thread; you can only have 5 keys programmed in. If his truck already has 4 programmed, that may be his issue. I suggested to clear all keys and then start fresh. Had to do this on my truck this summer.

Thanks for the input.

I did erase all keys before trying to program.

I'm going to read over the instructions again and make sure I didn't miss anything.

Tomorrow I will have time to mess with it. So I will post tomorrow with some updates.

Default Programming Keys Using FORScan. Help!

Rudy, my attempt at programming both my keys gave me the same errors but the keys worked after and I had a different pcm. Which reminds me. It you only replaced the transceiver wouldn’t you have been fine not erasing the keys? I thought they were stored in the pcm. The transceiver is just that. It sends the signal code of the keys to the computer to check for approval. I could be wrong.

Thanks.

So far... no good. I'm going to send Forscan an email with my logs. Maybe they will be able to shine some light on it.

I had already erased the keys before I replaced the transceiver... Does the transceiver and PCM have to come as a pair, or would I be able to use any PCM as long as the model number is the same? How much did you pay for your PCM?

It teases me programming one key.
