Default Blower motor speed control switch

Blower motor speed control switch not working 2 and 3, only low and high only working. Jumped out wires at speed switch connector, all speeds working. Replaced switch, still not working. New resistor installed. Doesn't make sense.

Did you replace the connector when you replaced the resistor? I'm amazed you got it off they are usually fused to the resistor I've done 3 in the past year and none of them were usable.

Plus those are the only 2 things besides wire and the motor in the circuit. The motor works on high so it works. Resistors and pig tails for "that one" usually come together. Be careful splicing the wires because they changed colors every production month (seemed like) and the tab positions are critical to proper operation.

Could you have pinched wires? Sure you could, I have never seen it but I'm sure it happens. More than likely your resistor connector (plug, harnass, pigtail, called several things) is in bad shape or if you did replace it you might have crossed 2 of the wires. I did once and had low, medium, high, high on the switch.

I'd grab a meter and check for voltage into the resistor on the leads for each speed setting.

You will get 12 across the board with no load, the motor load through the resistor is what will bring the voltage down.

The switch is simply a selector that routs the 12V to the different wires on the connectors on the resistor.

Those wires were what I was suggesting to test.

All the speeds working if I disconnect the speed control switch and put a jumper wire on the wires at the connector which the speed control switch plugs into. I also took the connector off the wires and directly connected the wires to the switch. Tried 3 new switches, last one came from ford.
