Hello, my name is Bud. I live in San Antonio, Tx. I recently bought a new battery for my 1998 ranger. I didn't realize the polarity on the battery was backwards when I hooked it up. It was only for a few seconds. I damaged the electrical system it seems. The charging light remains on and the voltage gauge shows near dead. I would really appreciate any help or advice to fix my screw up. Thank-you.

Check your fuse box to see if you blew any. You likely popped a fuse. Do you know if your alternator is charging when the engine is running?
