I have a 2005 ford ranger xlt edge 2wd 3.0 manual trans and I recently switched the old dome/cab light, to an LED bulb. I bought it brand new obviously, and I bought the 912. It worked fine for a little bit, and then it started having issues. It flickers every now and again. If I have the truck off, with the key turned to accesory power, it doesnt light up as bright as it would if the truck was on, but sometimes it does light up like normal. I also noticed if its not lighting up like it should, I open the door, then close it, most of the time it will light up back to full brightness. I feel like its all jumbled up because some tricks I have, like opening and closing the door, dont always work, but sometimes they do. Its driving me nuts and if any of you guys could help me out, it would surely save me from pure insanity lol. Thanks!

Hi first I would keep it simple if possible, take the LED bulb out and install the original standard bulb to see if the problem is present with the original bulb.

If the problem is present with the original bulb, then you may have a loose connection at the bulb socket or at dome light housing to harness connector.

If the problem goes away with the original bulb the new led bulb may be defective or it may not be making a good connection at the bulb socket.

also make sure that the new led bulb is the same length as the original style bulb.

When looking up a dome light bulb for your truck on amazon the standard bulb is 43 mm while the led replacement is 42 mm if this is what you ended up with the bulb may not be making a good connection to the socket.

^^ I had the same problem. Also check for any damage to wires in the area as water leakage is common in that region. I had that problem as well as what EaOutlaw1969 said.
