Yeah when I simulated the signals, using the 12v accessory port for the 12v signals and ground.

I just have to wire them permanently to the signals in the truck.

Can you post pictures and or a How-to? I've been wanting this for awhile now and would help clear up some confusion I have reading through this thread. Great info in here btw

Yeah I'll make a how to after I look at which years this works on and the difference. Maybe make a video.

Couldn't have done it (and wouldn't even know it was possible) without your and Anthony's how-to's. Wasn't hard, just needed the right parts and good information (pics are SO helpful). Many, Many thanks to the both of you guys!

Anthony, thanks so much for this write up and video! You made it super-simple to do and left nothing out for us to guess at. Those connectors look to be a bit difficult to get out, but with a pick tool and a couple of junk yard pigtails, should be able to get the two needed wires. I am wondering... there is a wire behind the radio that is used to turn off the auto-dim mirror function while in reverse... could a guy possibly use this for the reverse signal?

Connector 267M
Pin Wire Color(s) Gauge Circuit Purpose
06 BK / PK Normal 140 Disable auto dim when in reverse

Of course, it may not be the ground signal we are looking for. Just a thought. Again, thank you so much for the write up and video!

BTW, your avatar doesn't have facial hair... when the video loaded, I thought "who is this guy?" LOL Have a GREAT weekend!

The reverse wire doesn't have to switch to ground when not being used it's only the brake wire that needs this.

That connector number is for the interconnect at the a-pillar between the OHC/auto dimming mirror harness and the dash harness on an Explorer. Unless you added that wire and spliced it into the trucks reverse lights when adding an OHC/ Auto dimming mirror you won't have that / won't work.

Yes, that is what I did. That connector is a bitch to get out, but I wanted the ability to disconnect under the dash in case something went wrong with the OHC or Auto Dim mirror stuff. So I can use that Black/Pink wire from there for the reverse signal?

Yeah if it is connected to the reverse signal.

Some guys Dont wire up the reverse signal when doing the auto dimming mirror (me included)
