Default Electric Nightmare

When it comes to electrical stuff, I'm totally in the dark!

Several things aren't working at all...
So all I've got is that its a problem with a fuse, but haven't been able to get much further then that.
Tried to replace fuse 26 and it blows as I'm trying to put it in. It controls the Battery Saver Relay, Auxillary Relay Box, Restraint Central Module, Generic Electronic Module and Instrument Cluster.
A few issues I'm having have to do with the Instrument Cluster and the GEM and that's all I know. Not sure what the other functions do.

My question is where do I go from here? I'm thinking it's an easy fix but don't want to screw around with any actual wiring. Help me out! I would take any suggestions seriously!!

Oh yeah... The issues I've been having, to name a few, are my speedometer doesn't work, windshield wipers don't work, no noise when my keys are in off position in the ignition, dome light doesn't work, power window on driver's side doesn't go all the way down when you hit the window button quickly.

Not sure how to help you, but it might be a good idea to have a signature in your posts so everyone knows what type engine, year, model Ranger you have. Then, an expert in electrical can hopefully pinpoint your dilema and help fix it for you. Just click on "user CP" at the top of the page.

You might want to try to isolate the short. It sounds like a short in one of the things that are on the fuse. If you can find the splitting point, disconnect one at a time, replacing the fuse every time.

Might want to pull everything on the fuse first, then replace the fuses and see if the fuse blows. If it does, the problem isen't in the equipment but may be in the wiring going to the splitting of the equipment.

If it dosen't blow, Momenteraly re connect each one at a time and see which one blows. Leave that one off, replace the fuse. See what dosen't work and the problem is in that one thing.

Trace the wiring and see if there aby frays, shorting to ground and such. Might want to purchase a VOM meter in case you need to check conunity and such.

Thats about it. It's not easy, and can be thrustrating.
