Fog Lights installed and wont turn on.

Hey guys need some help here. So I have a 2002 Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0 v6 that I just bought. Ive been cleaning it up and trying to get it up to snuff. I bought some fog lights and installed them but i cant get them to light up. I'll attach pics at the bottom. They are the halo fog lights. I've checked the fuses and relays but no luck. The fog light button is green on head unit too. Also with these lights they have 4 wires, two that are directly into the wire harness and two loose ones a positive and negative. I don't have the two loose one wired into anything and don't know where they would go. Do they need to be wired into something to get the whole unit power? Any help would be grateful!

The two loose ones are for a custom setup that would have an aftermarket switch to turn the halo on and off.

As for the fog light itself, remove the bulbs and make sure the filament is still in tact (there is a good chance they are not as they don't usually send you the most expensive bulbs with the housing)

So your truck had factory fogs and your replacing them with these?

I'd say that they have to power run to them as I see a red & black that aren't in the pigtail. Try runnin jumper wires from one of them to your battery and see if it lites.
If so, then I would recomment running your wires through a relay to power them.
If not, then did they come with wiring directions for replacement or add-on?

The fog lights from the factory don't get power unless your headlights are on low, they WILL NOT lite with High Beams or just parking lights unless you bypass them.

Let us know what you find.

A link to the actual product might also help. I am saying this because the look like HID's, which would need ballasts and a wiring harness. The two loose red wired would be for the hi/lo mask. But from the pictures alone it's had to say for sure. Red wires could be for the halo, but I would expect a red/black combo for that as polarity is important on LED's.

When i put the red and black loose wires directly on the batter the halo does light up. Im going to work on it and play with it this weekend and ill let you guys know if i get anywhere.

A little update whats going on. I checked the bulbs and are ok. but still cant get it to turn on. I took them off for now until i can figure this out.

If the truck wasn't equipped with fog lights from the factory then the light switch won't turn them on. Buy a switch and power them through a relay that will handle the amperage.

I cant remember but if the truck was factory wired but did not have the fog lights I believe Ford didnt put the relay in. Check to see if the relay is installed.

test for power at the harness too.

The OEM fog lights on my '08 will light up with just the park lights on.

Maybe a newer unit feature?

Different headlight switch than the older units. However I thought they did still work with the parking lights.

07+ feature, changed when the headlight switch did. Earlier models had a button next to the radio and can use them with low beams too.
