Default Airbag Disconnection?

97 Ranger strictly a woods truck will never see road again. How can I disable airbags so they won't go off if i slam into a tree? Doing research, i came up with 2 impact sensors on rad support, and 2 fuses-1 for airbag/blower and 1 for airbag and alt. Can I simply disconnect impact sensors in front? I would like to keep airbags in so dash isnt pulled apart but just dont want them to go off

----------

Also noticed there is a relay for just air bag system. Will pulling that disarm it?

the bags could still go off with the impact sensors disconnected as there is another one in the RCM which is the brain for the whole airbag system

----------

What I would do is disconnect that and be done with it

Couldn't you just cut the wires going to the bags?

That's some Darwin award logic right there.

Hell on my truck if I unplug the seat belts under my seats it puts the air bag light on which disabled the whole system. Idk what that could mean for you sense your trucks a bit older but it's a thought

You can just unplug the crash sensors in front and be good to go. You have to trigger one of those plus the inertia switch in the control module for them to blow. It's a failsafe so they don't accidentally blow. Have to trip 2 triggers. Not just 1.

The previous guy bypassed inertia switch, all 3 wires are tied together switch isnt even there. So in theory it should be fine as long as the wires dont come apart to short system?

If you are not going any more than 25 mph then leave it hooked up because it won't go off if you hit a tree square at that speed.

Are you positive it wont? If so ill leave them. I doubt it would ever see over 10-15 even crossing fields
