Default starting problems, 94 xlt

ok, so ive read almost every post on this page about starting problems with these rangers, yet here we are, cant figure out for the life of me why my truck wont start. the starter and relay are both good, the battery connections are good (on both ends) the only thing i can figure is theres a short in the line somewhere, and im gonna have to rip the harness out of the front end.obviously, id rather not do that. i had the same problem a few weeks ago, checked all the connections, jiggled some stuff around, then cacha! she started.......until now. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

----------

also, i already checked all the fuses and such, and have recently cleaned and replaced my battery connections

----------

and just to be clear, its not turning over, all im getting is a single loud CLICK, when i turn the key to start.....also, i can hear the fuel pump turning on, and the truck is definitely in park

Do you own a Multi-meter?

Did you replace the fender relay? What relay did you check? replace? Did you check the solenoid on the starter

is it a 5 speed(update your sig.)? *just noticed you mentioned it was in park. Play with the shifter as you try and start it

Try swapping out the EEC and the FP relays with one that is known to be good. These relays have a history of failure causing no start and intermittent start in your and close to your MY.

^^^ Oops, scratch that, I doofed and missed this......

Don't want the OP to get side tracked. It's not the CPS. It's a starter/srarter control circuit issue
