Default headlight toggle??

93 standard cab 4 wd sport. long bed 4 liter 6 cyl 5spd. the plastic piece that actually hold the multi function push-pull switch for my headlights broke and instead of fixing that some how i would like to put a double throw toggle there n(on-off-on) for my parking lights and tail lights on one throw and normal lights on the other. i have read up on this and many people say i would need a relay. well the headlights are only 10-20 am and the toggle i would get is for 25 am. im not sure on how to go about all this. i just need an easy explanation of how i would hook that up.

yes that can be done, you only need a relay if the switch is not rated for the power. if you switch is good for 20 amps or more you can just run the wires to the switch and to the lights no need for a relay

I would likely run a relay, but that is personal preference.

As far as the wiring, if you're not very fluent with basic electronics, I would strongly advise you to have someone help you with this one. A good start would be to get the approperiate wiring diagram - I recommend an OEM one from Helm Inc. The one I have for my '88 is very helpful.

You don't want to go in without a plan, often times a simple job can turn into a hack job.

a relay a just one more thing to go wrong, and you also have 2 hot wire instead of one. no relay with the right switch is as good or better
