Default Trailer Light Problems

Hi guys,

I have a 1999 Ranger and I was having some issues with the trailer lights. I had some wires break off the round plug that sits near the spare tire. Since the Ranger has separate turn/brake lights, I read that i needed a "converter" which i purchased, a Hopkins 48845 model. I got it all wired in and everything worked EXCEPT the brake lights. Both turn signals and running lights work fine. I tested the red wire (brakes) on the vehicle side of the converter and there is power there when the brakes are on, but there is nothing on the green and yellows on the other side of the converter. I even tried running a wire straight from the brake light to the red wire and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas???

You have it grounded to the frame correct? It could be the converter also Hopkins is not known for their reliability.
