Exclamation Not Ford but need help on HID bulbs on Acura...?

Hey yall. My dad has a 98 Acura CL and I want to get some HIDs for it. Now here's the thing that stumbling me; the car has two separate bulbs. One for low one for high. Here's the question, would I have to buy two separate HID kits in order for it to work or could I just buy one and kill the high beam? Or buy two and both low and high works by using single beam HIDs? I really need help because tomorrow I'm heading to the bank to make a deposit and then I am going to purchase them. So any help would be great. Thanks!

You would need two separate kits in order for it to work correctly... I'd do 6k for the highs and 8k for the lows. Don't forget that the low and high beams are two different bild type/sizes.

Damn, I thought so, well, looks like I know what I gotta do. Now are you 100 percent sure on this? Trying to save some money but if your right then what the hell you know. Besides, I'll be getting the kits from Autoluminate on eBay . Thanks bro for your help.

I'm 100% sure on this. Check a fitguide website to ensure that you get the right sized bulbs for each beam setting.

It will be interesting to see how the high beams turn out seeing that they don't run all the time and like all hid's will need to "warm up" before the light output is right. Keep us posted with how it turns out.

You could just get a set for the low beams and keep the factory hi-beams

Yeah? I really don't need high beam in HID. But if that can work as well by low in hid and high in stock, I'll do it! Thanks to you two

Yeah it says and shows me that it is a separate bulb so I don't seem why not either. But in the morning I will look at it and hopefully everything goes well. Will keep you guys and this thread posted once kit arrives and installation is complete. Thank you!

why would you want HIDs in the highbeams? HIDs takes so long to warm up and they don't like to be flicked on and off quickly. I say just go with HIDs in the lows and if you want the different color, go with a different color bulb on the highs. Don't go HIDs.

This kind of switching is not going to work well due to the warm up time as others have mentioned. Every time you switch from low to high and high to low, you're going to have a period of darkness as the high or low lamps warm up.

I would do the HID's in both but use a relay setup to keep the low beams on when the high beams are on. That way the lows are always on and the highs switch on and off. No loss of illumination while you're driving.

A side from what they recommend here, check www.hondasuv.com under 1997-2006, wired CR-V or something like that. There are two extensive stickies about the subject, what to do and what to avoid and why.
