Angry One costly catastrophe after another- HELP!

I have a 2009 Ford Ranger 4x4 sport. It's got 82,000 miles and never had any issues until June 1, 2015. The clutch went out. Not a huge deal. Or so I thought. Repair cost over $1,300, mostly labor, which is ridiculous because the shop struggled to figure it out and passed the cost to me. They also let their drop light melt a bunch of sensors they then replaced at their cost. I didn't drive much until I went on a 500+ mile road trip. The air conditioner went out on June 19. I recharged it only to find the compressor was leaking. Great. I couldn't help but feel that somehow when they replaced my clutch they damaged the compressor. Then on June 22 I am downshifting going up a hill on the freeway (not in 4X4) and I couldn't get it in to gear. I pull over and hear a loud clanking noise. Thought it was the transmission. I get towed back home and the shop (same one as the clutch) says that it's the transfer case. They put in a new transfer case. Next day I break down again, same issue. Ford dealership says it's the drive shaft and not only does that need to be replaced but the new transfer case has been damaged. I strongly suspect that the drive shaft was not put in correctly the first or second time by the repair shop. So $2,400 later (first repair shop covered nearly $700 so they did take some responsibility) I have a new drive shaft, transfer case, and air conditioning system. Two days later the check engine light comes on. Get the diagnostic done and it's a throttle sensor and three circuits with low voltage. I thought it might be the sensor the repair shop melted and then replaced but no such luck. Now another repair shop is painstakingly going through all the sensors to try to find out what's wrong. What kind of bull crap is this? Is it three inept mechanics in a row or is this something I should just expect now with my ranger, breaking down every freaking week?!? Are they really only good for 80,000 miles? I have had all my scheduled maintenance done at Ford dealerships and mostly have freeway miles on it. I've taken care of it and now it is taking a crap on me!

X2, sounds like the shop that did the clutch is the problem.

They racked up labor hours because they didn't know how to replace the clutch..

Then they allowed a light to come in contact with and damage electrical components..

You see where I'm going with this? It's not the trucks fault if incompetent people mess with it lol

I have a 2008 4x4 sport but 104,000 of those mile it was 2wd truck. The only issue I've ever had with my truck is the blend door actuator went out at about 70k. These trucks are extremely reliable especially the later year model trucks. IMHO the original shop has a bunch of jack wagon mechanics and they've caused 80% of your issues

There are a lot of like that around here. One kept busting and charging me for a new fan on my expo cuz they didn't have the special tool ford said to use. another wanted to charge my son over $600 to change the spark plugs in his F 150 cause they said they'd have to buy a special tool. this was after they had broken 3, trying to get them out. There isn't a shop within 100 miles of Madison Indiana that isn't a rip off shop. They fix one thing then FK up another. Yes especially the 3 dealerships here, & Big OMG!

I swear, if it comes down to where I can't fix it, I'll burn the bitch to the ground.

Sorry to steal your post and rant, it sounds like you live close to me though lol

You never realize how good you got it made when you have a local shop you can trust until you hear the horror stories of other drivers and their repairs

The clutch and the A/C compressor seem completely unrelated. You don't have to go anywhere near the A/C compressor to do a clutch job.

The other stuff, I could see an incompetent shop screwing up with a clutch change, but not the A/C.
