Exclamation 3.0 won't start

Hello all

I tried seaching through the forum, and couldn't quite find what I was looking for.

To give some background info:
About two weeks ago when I tried to start the truck, it seemed a little sluggish. So I took it to advance auto, and they said I needed a new battery. So I put a new battery in it, and thought my problems would be solved... NOPE! It continued to have intermittent slow starts, and occasionally would not want to start. Yesterday morning, I left the house early for a final, and when I realized I forgot something, headed home to get a stack of papers. When I went to restart the truck, I got a single click upon turning the key. 20 seconds later I turned the key again and it started. This morning, I stopped at McDonalds, and once again it wouldn't start. I got a single click every time I tried to start it.
I had to pop the clutch and push start it to get to campus, and it is continuing to have the same issue. I get one click when turning the key to the Start position, and thats it. My voltage gage is reading normal, and when I turn the key to run, lights come on, radio plays, etc. So I do not know exactly what is wrong. Could it be the starter, or something else? My dad mentioned a starter relay, and on the forum people I have seen similar issues where people talk about bad grounds and what not.

Sorry this was so long, just figured the extra info is better than lack of info.
Any help is greatly appreciated; I'm getting tired of push starting it lol.

Thanks!

Thanks, I think it probably is the starter since it doesn't crank. Push starting it is getting to be a pain lol, especially when I forget to turn the key to the on position haha.

Haha whoops I am having the same problem on my ranger, thanks for this thread, I had to have a buddy pull start me with a strap i felt like such a redneck lol. Let me know what you replace, my brother swears it can't be the starter being as he just put a new one in like 2 years ago but that is what everyone else is saying it is. Good luck

Next time it happens try shaking the wire loom at the battery. Then try to restart. I had a similar issue and it ended up being a problem with the negative cable from the battery.
