Default Brake Light Mystery

Hey im new and i own a jeep. but im trying to figure out the problem with my dad's 94 ranger. his brake lights wont turn on when he presses the pedal.. but the running lights will come on? i was thinking it was a fuse but i checked them all and they seem to be fine. did i miss something? please help.

Check the brake light switch up under the dash. Just follow the brake pedal up under the dash.

check for what? i looked. it seemed fine. it was connected.

check to see if the voltage changes when the brake is applied....

just to clarify what do you mean? how do i do that? the gauge? sorry im a noob with fords. haha. also doing research on my dad's f150 too. please bare with me.

backprobe the wires going into the switch and hook them up to a multimeter. when you press the brake pedal the reading should change, if it doesn't then the switch is bad.

sorry for it taking a while. i just spent the $8 on a new light switch and they work fine now. thanks.
