Default Cargo light stays on?

Like the title says the cargo light on my 2000 xlt ranger will not go off. It has been going on like this for awhile, and i just got fed up with it. So if you could help me with this it would be appreciated.

Look next to your headlight switch there is a round scrolling thing scroll it down and it should shut off

Didn't work for me. I must have a short in the wiring. I had to pull the light out of the dome. That worked.

How does pulling out the interior dome light make the exterior cargo light turn off? They're (predictably) not wired in series.

Sorry about the mix up. My exterior cargo light is not the problem. With mine its the interior. I fixed that by pulling the light. Don't really need it anyway.

In that case V this V should fix your issue fairly common
