Re: LED lights not working.
That is unfortunate. I advanced the LED exterior/signal lighting project yesterday by ordering a couple of projector bulbs for the front park/turn lights, selected some new diodes (if they are even needed), devised a way to insert the diode(s), if needed to address backfeeding problems caused by the LED's, into the wiring in a reversible manner and where the harness need not be cut up, and now await a package in the mail. Then the implementation, evaluation and decision on keeping/deleting/buy more bulbs. Fun fill-in project but doing the homework to get it right really does burn time.

Oh lol it didn't show up on the mobile app. Yea I've given up on the LEDs for mine. Its hard to find people with a 98-01 that have done it

Re: LED lights not working.
Or possibly people that have tried hard enough to make it a success.

Re: LED lights not working.
If I were to simply sit on my obama and wait, I'd get nowhere on the project. Gotta work for the reward and and keep your eye on the prize. Make a mistake....learn what the mistake was, correct/revise/etc and move forward, no loitering.

That was the most inspiring thing I've read today.

Re: LED lights not working.
I have an extra EP27 flasher and i was able to get it apart.
Would I be able to put the diodes in it to fix the problem with the feed back?

Re: LED lights not working.
I know of no reason why an EP27 flasher and the CORRECT LED's should not work in ANY model year Ranger, assuming the wiring hasn't been modded incorrectly. Those of you finding it necessary to add diodes or experiment with load resistors are doing so because you are likely using inferior quality non polarized LED's not designed for automotive applications. Load resistors are used to provide the current draw that would otherwise be in the circuit if an incandescent bulb was used. The use of an EP27 should eliminate the need for load resistors, and prevent hyperflash. Resistors will allow current flow in either direction, a simple diode conducts in one direction only. The use of a suitable polarized LED should prevent the back feeding some of you are seeing. A proper, polarized LED will only light when oriented in one direction only, because it has one or more diodes incorporated in it's design.

Doubtful, after studying the schematics it was noted that isolation would need to be provided at each point where this particular bulb with a Cree in it was used. There is a pic in my album showing the setup and then determining that only one diode would be needed to solve backfeeding issues, if that bulb were used for a turn/brake/tail lamp (I put in in the reverse light instead). You can pull up the schematics for your vehicle at no cost over on bbbind.com. The EP27 flasher cures the hyperflash, the diodes, if you prove that you need them, address backfeeding caused by the driver (and?) in the bulb, and for kicks you can use the test leads in that pic in my album to show that a resistor will/will not solve anything. You don't need to actually buy a six ohm resistor, you can use an incandescent bulb.
FWIW, I bought some projector LED's in amber fir the front park/turn lights; they were 100% plug and play. EP27 was already installed from previous experiment. Now on to find some LED tail's that look right.

All of my LED's or polarized. I checked them when I put them in.

So I got the diodes to fix back feeding. Where do I need to write them in. I have a 98 with the 4 bulb blinkers in the front

Re: LED lights not working.
I have an 01 Ranger and every bulb in front minus the HID retro fit is an LED. All bulbs in the rear are also LED. Cargo is also LED. I used the relay from superbrightleds, which was mentioned in this thread... Never any problems.
Been running those LEDS up front and in the rear for about 3-4 years now.
