This sounds cool. Explain what this does? You can do that manually?

The ECU simply uses software and mapping to determine how your powertrain operates. Using a pinout to force voltages for whatever output you want is the oldest trick in the book. Only better trick is to rewrite the software to give you the results you want. (I do this with ecuflash XML all day)

Understood. What is the advantage (and disadvantage) of doing this? Is it just +12 or ground locks it up?

My limited knowlege of transmissions tells me this would be great for cruising on the highway, bad for they city, and really bad if you need to slam on the brakes?

theres rilly no down side to it because if u slam on the brakes when it kicks in to second gear it will un lock, when u are cursein 70 down the e way and you take your foot of the gas for a sec it will not unlock but in city driving you wouldn't want to leave it locked o just turn the switch off and it will be like u never even did anything

I think that is exactly what will happen. I would probably wire with an interlock to the brake pedal. That way if I step on the brake, it disconnects.

I'm sure the software monitors the brake pedal as it is. That's why modifying the software is a better way to do this.

Maybe you could post some pics of what you did exactly(how to)?.....I do a lot of interstate driving and I hate the shifting during 75-80. I think this would be a great mod for me or do i have the wrong idea here?
