Default Heater/AC Control Panel

My heating & air condition control panel doesn't light up. It never did since I bought it, I figured it was a bulb or fuse. I know it isn't the bulb or fuse because the other day I was driving home and bam...it started lighting up without me even touching it ! It worked for a few days, but now...it isn't lighting again I'm guessing maybe a loose wire?

It is easy to take out. Don't know what year you have. I have a 98 and here's how it works. Remove the radio trim. It is a lot easier instead to remove the radio with the trim and set it aside instead of it just hanging there. Should be 4 bolts on each of the corners. I think a 7mm socket will work, but its been a while since I removed mine so bring the whole set out with you. Then it will come off. There are wires and things attached to the back so don't pull it out too far. It may just be something loose there. That would be the first thing I check.

It could still be a fuse that is loose. I was having a problem with my amp working and got my brother to take a look at it since he's the genius. The light was coming on so it had power. Popped the hood and looked in the inline fuse holder, and it was just loose enough that it would cut out sometimes and then work fine for a while. A bump in the road would cause it to work and then not work.

Anyway, once you get the panel off, maybe you can figure it out.

A buddy of mine said if it was a fuse, more then just that light will probably be on it. Maybe if it was all the backlights then he'd say it was a fuse...what you guys think?

Checking for a loose fuse is probably easier though, so maybe I'll check that and if no luck, then I'll check the bulb.

A loose fuse is definitely a lot easier to check. Just pop off the fuse box cover. If you have your owners manual, it will tell you where the fuse is located so you don't have to look thru all of them. Let us know how it goes.
