4WD, Dome Light, and Door latch?

Please tell me how the 4WD, Dome Light, and Door latch are connected????

Here is my scenario:

4WD High and Low Lights Blink, Dome light will not come on (switch on leftside of dash will not engage light), but if i open my door, and slam it, the dome light will come on and the 4wd lights stop.

I can be driving, in regular 2wd mode, and the 4wd lights will start RANDOMLY blinking, sometimes they even cut short like its a short, and it doesn't finish the current blink, and when i try to switch the dome light on, it wont work. Again i can open my door while driving and slam it, and boom the dome light comes on and the 4wd lights stop.

I know they are connected thru the GEM module, i have already replaced that. Got an exact match from a junk yard, but maybe that one is shot too??
The local ford shop says it may be the wires in the rubber loom connecting dash to door.

I think it may be in the actual metal latch that grabs that clip on the fixed cab side.

Anyone else had this issue??
Any advice, help, etc..

Check fuse as for the 4x4 stuff and dome light

For the door ajar and (possibly dome light) issue....wd40 in the door latches

Thanks but its not the Door Ajar dome light issue.
The issue is that when the 4wd lights are blinking the some light won't come on. So I know they are connected somehow. Already replaced my gem module. When it occurs i can open and slam the door and it will all work again for a short time. Must be an issue with a wire or something in the door

All my fuses are good, replaced most with new ones.

Its a 1999 ext cab 4wd 3.0.

I had this problem with a F150. It was some type of wire above the fuse compartment. It was a group of wires that connected to a harness. The harness connected to a box of some sort. probably an ecu idk. But anywho, Make sure that harness has no bent wires, worn wires, any shorts, and make sure the harness is tightly secured. This "box" can be found above the fuse box. Which is why if u slam the door, it works. Next time this happens, stop and get out very gently. get out of the truck and run your hands under the dash ontop of the fuse compartment, move wires around. if it stops, then you know your problem. Goodluck.

I found the wire harness u speak of, but didn't find the problem.

So I turned on the dome light switch, the light came on, I drove with it on for a bit, and as soon as I turned off the pavement onto some gravel, and hit some bumps, the dome light would flicker, then it went out and the 4x4 lights started blinking. I opens the door and shut it, the lights stopped blinking and the dome light came back on.

sounds like a loose wire or ground but I gotta find it and fix it!!!

Ok YES, its gotta be something with the fuse box or that general area. But I can get access to any of it back there.

I had my door open, with the dome light on and with the 4wd engage, i can hit/tap the dash right over the fuse box, and the light will flicker or go out as well as the 4wd light indicator.

check wiring going into fuse pannel

may have to take yourself to a JY and pull a new fuse box out of a junked truck

There are like 3 screws holding the fuse box in place, but how do u disconnect the cables?
I can't get to them.
Not sure how to tackle it

unbolt those 3 screws, and go from there

Yeah I removed the three screws but the problem is I don't know where to go from there. Therea not enough cable slack to pull the box out much, notl enough room or space to see what all is going on or what to do.

my dome light does this because my connection for the dome light is weak. it is NOT a wire. it is a screw screwed into a metal contact point that can get very worn out (like mine) check that out

as for everything else idk but start at the dome light lol
