AH HA! It just hit me all of a sudden!!
Pulling that fuse absolutely without a doubt does NOT disable the airbags.
The entire
SRS system is armed and functioning whether the key is on or not. That indicator light circuit on fuse #15 only has power when the ignition is on. Therefore, if the circuit being powered down disabled the
SRS system, then the
SRS system would not work with the key off.
To be honest, I do not know where the
SRS system's main power comes from but I suspect they made it that way on purpose so it can't be messed with. It is probably internal to the
SRS controller or its on the same circuit as the rest of the computer system.
