i had a problem simmilar right after i did my body lift, we took tha airbag fuse out to do the lift, and decided not to put back in and i kept draining the battery, until i put the air bag fuse back in. maybe your airbag fuse in done? just a thought.

Check "ALL" connections even the ground.. undo the grounds and clean them up... battery and alt esp. check to se what shape wire is in also Ford now uses a cast piece around the battery with copper wire perfect place for corosion to occur... my '78 monarch did the same to me... car would keep dying so I tested and replaced the alt... then the battery.. kept doing it and so I cleaned all the connections and put new battery and alt back in and worked fine after that...

Have autozone use a code scanner they do for free at most stores here in Detroit!

i guess its a safety feature or somthing that it wont charge the battery if the airbag fuse is blown or removed. i found it out the hard way: new alternator, new belt, new belt tensioner. still not charging until i put the fuse back in.

That is not the case at all. The SRS system status has nothing to do with the operation of the the rest of the truck. Coincidence from some other factor.

well then how come with the fuse out there was no charging, but with fuse in there was charging???

I don't know but it has nothing to do with a safety feature. Either it as a coincidence or its just wired weird. What fuse was it?

Well i got her back to normal. I left my truck's hood open and someone decided to play a game and took a bunch of fuses. There was like 8 missing. I checked all the fuses that were there, didn't think they were missing

Well that would do it. Fuse #15 on a 99 Ranger is the AIRBAG INDICATOR LAMP and the ALTERNATOR INDICATOR LAMP.

The alternator indicator lamp circuit is also what provides field current to the alternator in order for it to begin generating electricity. If that fuse is popped, no field current flows, the alternator will spin and do nothing. It exists like that because if the alternator is not spinning and the ignition is on, current will flow the other way causing the LED indicator lamp to light. (over simplified).

It is unlikely that this fuse being removed will deactivate the air bags. It is the fuse for the indicator light, not the SRS system. I'm not intimately familiar with the wiring of that light but I have no reason to believe otherwise.

In summary, its coincidence

are you sure it would not deactiveate the air bags thats the only fuse that is for air bags (in my owners manual)
